Avery Boyle is the Editor-In-Chief of The Hawk Eye at Hebron High School in Lewisville Texas. She manages staff deadlines, and ensures efficient production and communication between all members of staff. She believes it is necessary to pass New Voices law in Texas because student journalists need the freedom to represent and communicate to their community fairly without censorship. 

What I Do

As the Education Officer, I help inform people about New Voices and raise awareness about the lack of legislation and press freedom student journalists in Texas have. It is my job to educate those on the importance of journalism and the free press. I plan to communicate effectively, enthusiastically, and learn from the stories and perspectives of student journalists, teachers, and administrators. I also plan to create presentations and articles to help spread the word, while encouraging passion for a New Voices bill on my publication and others. A goal I aim to honor as an Education Officer is to get more representatives in Texas aware of our organization, as well as educate professional educators, journalists, and writers. I plan to help educate students and advisors by giving presentations at journalism events and school board meetings, and working with other New Voices officers on social media content.
