Faye Zayed is the Editor-in-Chief for both the Raider Rumbler Newspaper and Replay Yearbook at Rouse High School in Leander, Texas. In her role at New Voices Texas, Zayed coordinates public outreach efforts by creating and managing engaging content that champions student press rights.
“As student journalists, we must protect and advocate for our rights. Student journalists need the freedom to explore, report and write without the fear of censorship.”
What I Do
As Co-Education Officer and Communications Specialist, I collaborate with our team of officers and specialists to raise awareness about New Voices Texas and the importance of student press laws. My goal is to build a strong network of supporters, including student journalists and advisers while expanding our reach through public engagement and media partnerships.
By the end of the year, I hope to establish a lasting foundation for New Voices Texas by highlighting stories of censorship, advocating for legislative change and educating lawmakers and community leaders about the urgency of protecting student voices.
