What I Do
As a Communications Specialist of New Voices Texas, I work alongside our officers and specialists to expand our digital presence and educate students about the importance of student press freedom. Through social media, I aim to connect student journalists across Texas, share resources, promote events, and encourage more students to become involved in advocating for their First Amendment rights. Along with raise awareness to help pass bills that reduce censorship.
I am responsible for creating and managing engaging content across our social media platforms while collaborating with the officer team to maximize outreach efforts. By working with regional organizers and other specialists, I hope to highlight student journalists from across Texas, share their stories, and ensure our message reaches a diverse audience. I want every student journalist to feel represented, informed, and empowered to use their voice.
I will use my position as Communications Specialist by creating consistent, engaging, and informative content that raises awareness about New Voices Texas and student press rights. Whether it’s promoting campaigns, showcasing student achievements, or sharing educational resources, I want our social media platforms to become a place where students can learn, connect, and take action.
By the end of the school year, I hope to help build a stronger online presence for New Voices Texas and reach more student journalists. I want students across Texas to know that New Voices is a resource, a community, and an advocate for their rights. My goal is to inspire more students to join our mission so that together we can build support for stronger protections for student journalists and ensure every student has the freedom to tell important stories without unnecessary censorship.
